A dedicated football enthusiast who raised over £260,000 for charity by selling samosas, a courageous mother who rescued a drowning 10-year-old boy from the sea, and a resilient five-year-old girl who defied the odds after losing both legs – these remarkable individuals were among the deserving winners honored at the prestigious 2024 Pride of Britain Awards. Selected from a vast pool of nominations, these unsung heroes were lauded at a glamorous ceremony in London, co-hosted by Ashley Banjo and Carol Vorderman.

Adding to the evening’s magic, P&O Cruises, the newly announced headline sponsor of the Pride of Britain Awards, surprised each of the 12 winners with an unforgettable gift – a cruise holiday, providing an opportunity for them to create lasting memories with their families.

Three of the recipients embarked on a 14-night Caribbean escapade aboard Britannia by P&O Cruises, exploring eight tropical islands and relishing top-notch entertainment offerings.

Aiyla Mota, recognized as the Child of Courage, faced a life-threatening battle with sepsis at just four years old, resulting in the amputation of both her legs and five fingers. Despite the challenges, Aiyla, now five, displayed remarkable resilience, earning her a Pride of Britain Award and becoming one of the youngest winners in history. Her mother, Eulanda, praised Aiyla’s unwavering spirit and zest for life following the harrowing ordeal.

Emily Greenwood, honored for her Outstanding Bravery, sprang into action on a Cornish beach when she witnessed a 10-year-old boy and his mother caught in a dangerous riptide. Risking her life in freezing waters, Emily heroically rescued the imperiled duo, showcasing immense courage that led to her well-deserved accolade and a subsequent Caribbean cruise with her family.

Manny Singh Kang, ITV Fundraiser of the Year, garnered acclaim for his innovative fundraising endeavors benefiting Dementia UK. By selling homemade samosas and undertaking marathons, Manny raised a substantial sum for the charity. His selfless contributions earned him a rewarding Caribbean cruise experience alongside his family, offering a well-deserved respite from his philanthropic pursuits.

These heartwarming stories of resilience, courage, and altruism exemplify the spirit of the Pride of Britain Awards, celebrating ordinary individuals who have accomplished extraordinary feats. Through the generosity of P&O Cruises, these deserving winners were able to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime cruise adventure, creating cherished memories with their loved ones in the idyllic Caribbean setting.
