Three individuals have been apprehended in London on suspicion of collaborating with Russia’s intelligence agency, as announced by the Metropolitan Police. The men, aged 44, 45, and 48, were taken into custody by Counter Terrorism Policing officers at various locations in west and central London on Thursday. They are currently being held by the police under section 3 of the National Security Act.
Commander Dominic Murphy, leading Counter Terrorism Policing London, emphasized the growing trend of individuals acting as ‘proxies’ for foreign intelligence services. He stated that these arrests are part of the continuous efforts to disrupt such illicit activities. Murphy warned against being lured into engaging in criminal actions on behalf of a foreign state within the UK, highlighting that such behavior will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted with severe consequences for those found guilty.
