Eye-witnesses recount a tragic scene as two individuals lost their lives in a fatal car accident involving Anthony Joshua. The incident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Makun in Ogun state, Nigeria. Reports indicate that Joshua’s SUV, accompanied by his security team, collided with a stationary truck after a tire burst, causing the vehicle to veer out of control.
Eyewitness Adeniyi Orojo described the event involving a two-vehicle convoy comprising a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV, with Joshua seated in the back alongside another passenger. Quick response from onlookers and authorities led to rescue efforts, but unfortunately, two occupants in the Lexus, including the passenger beside Joshua, lost their lives at the scene.
Joshua, who was on a visit to Nigeria, sustained injuries and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed Joshua’s condition, mentioning that he was en route to the hospital following the accident. The 36-year-old boxer, born in England but with strong ties to Nigeria, was in the country after his recent victory over Jake Paul. Joshua hinted at significant plans for 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury in post-fight remarks. He expressed gratitude to his supporters and hinted at upcoming ventures in the New Year in a social media post.
