A man who murdered a couple and left their body parts in a suitcase near the Clifton Suspension Bridge has been sentenced to life in prison. Yostin Andres Mosquera, a porn actor, was found guilty of the double murder and received a minimum term of 42 years behind bars. The court heard how Mosquera callously sang and danced after killing 62-year-old Albert Alfonso and beating his civil partner, 71-year-old Paul Longworth, to death with a hammer.
Mosquera, a Colombian national, carried out the killings in a calculated manner at the couple’s flat in West London. He decapitated and dismembered the victims, intending to dispose of their remains in suitcases over the bridge. However, his plan was thwarted when bridge staff suspected something was amiss. Mosquera was later arrested at a railway station in Bristol.
During the trial, it was revealed that Mosquera had a transactional relationship with Alfonso, paying him for sexual services. The court also heard about Mosquera’s disturbing online searches and attempts to access the victims’ bank accounts. Mosquera used a knife and power tool to dismember the bodies and tried to cover up his crimes by hiding Longworth’s body in a bed.
In addition to the murder charges, Mosquera pleaded guilty to child pornography offenses. The court found him in possession of thousands of unlawful images on his laptop, leading to additional charges. The judge sentenced Mosquera to prison for the child porn charges, to be served concurrently with his murder sentence.
Detectives expressed the heinous nature of the murders, highlighting the brutality inflicted on the innocent victims. They commended the extensive investigative work that led to Mosquera’s conviction and emphasized the importance of justice for the victims and their loved ones. Avon and Somerset Police thanked the community for their support in bringing the killer to justice.
