Ariana Grande Again Slams Trump Admin for Using Her Music

    Published on

For the second time this summer, Ariana Grande has criticized the U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration for featuring her music in a social media post. The Team Trump account included her song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” in a TikTok post that tagged the Grammy-winning singer. The post showcased President Trump approaching a podium to speak, with text from Grande’s 2024 hit track overlaid on the video. Grande responded in the comments, sternly asking to refrain from using her music and stating that the administration’s version of truth is incorrect.

Grande’s reaction follows a similar incident in mid-June when she objected to the administration using her song “Bye” in a TikTok video about immigration policy. The artist, currently on her Eternal Sunshine Tour in London, joins a long list of performers who have disapproved of the Trump team using their music. Over the years, several artists including Neil Young, John Fogerty, Queen, the Rolling Stones, ABBA, Beyoncé, and others have voiced objections to their music being played at Trump rallies or featured in social media content.

Some artists, like Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny, have taken swift legal action to have their music removed from Team Trump’s social videos. While political campaigns can acquire licenses to play music, individual artists can choose to exclude their work for various reasons. Artists who have not opted out still retain the right to object to the use of their music.
