Summer McIntosh claimed her first-ever gold medal at the Pan Pacific swimming competition by winning the women’s 400-meter individual medley in Irvine, California. She set a championship record time of 4 minutes and 28.01 seconds, outpacing Australia’s Jenna Forrester, who took silver, and Argentina’s Agostina Hein, who secured the bronze medal.

McIntosh, a Toronto native, expressed her satisfaction with the race, acknowledging that she could have performed even better. Despite feeling the strain towards the end of the race, she was pleased to represent Canada and emerge victorious.

Following her individual victory, McIntosh also contributed to Canada’s success in the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay, securing a bronze medal alongside her teammates. The Canadian team, comprising Mary-Sophie Harvey, Emma O’Croinin, and Brooklyn Douthwright, finished in third place behind Australia and the United States.
