The Toronto Blue Jays placed Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a six-time All-Star, on the seven-day injured list (IL) on Saturday due to concussion symptoms. In response, the team called up outfielder Daz Cameron from Triple-A Buffalo. To accommodate Cameron on the 40-man roster, Lazaro Estrada, a right-hander, was designated for assignment.

Additionally, the Blue Jays recalled left-hander Ricky Tiedemann from Buffalo on Saturday and sent right-hander Chase Lee to Triple-A. Guerrero exited Friday’s 3-1 win against the Yankees after a collision with New York’s rookie shortstop, George Lombard Jr., during a hectic play at third base in the sixth inning.

During the collision, Lombard attempted to leap over Guerrero as he slid into third base, resulting in his knee and thigh making contact with Guerrero’s head, causing his helmet to come off. Despite the impact, Guerrero managed to get up and run home to score a run, but appeared disoriented after crossing the plate. Charles McAdoo took over for Guerrero at first base in the seventh inning.

Following the game, manager John Schneider mentioned that Guerrero experienced a headache, which persisted into Saturday. Guerrero currently holds a batting average of .263 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. Tiedemann, who had a 0-1 record with a 6.43 ERA in seven games (including two starts) across three minor league levels this season, was also part of the recent roster moves by the Blue Jays.
