Markham is gearing up for a thrilling motorsports weekend as it hosts the NTT IndyCar Series for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event. This will be the first time the race takes place outside of Toronto, featuring a brand-new track layout spanning 3.52 kilometers with 12 turns.

To ensure smooth access to the event, attendees are advised to utilize GO Transit, York Region Transit, or drive via Highway 407, with parking available west of the event grounds. Metrolinx is increasing Stouffville Line service for convenient transportation.

Residents have been experiencing construction impacts ahead of the event, with road closures including parts of Enterprise Boulevard, Kennedy Road, YMCA Boulevard, University Boulevard, and South Unionville Boulevard. Closures will last until Monday, with some areas affected until August 27 during track teardown.

The main race day on Sunday will showcase top contenders, with Spaniard Alex Palou leading the points standings and highly favored to win. Notable drivers to watch include Pato O’Ward, Kyle Kirkwood, David Malukas, Christian Lundgaard, Rinus Veekay, Vaughan’s Anthony Martella, and Toronto’s Chase Pelletier.

Drivers are adjusting to the new Markham track layout, which offers a smoother surface compared to Toronto’s bumpy roads. IndyCar racers are anticipating challenges and opportunities on the unique course.
