The Montreal Roses took swift action following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship, announcing the dismissal of their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu, the day after the defeat. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, revealed the decision in a press release on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his role in laying the foundation for the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.

The club acknowledged the difficulty of parting ways with a coach but emphasized the necessity of injecting new energy to navigate the remainder of the season and propel the club’s growth. Currently occupying the second spot in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in their regular season.

Robert Rositoiu assumed the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, who previously served as the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will take charge of the upcoming match against AFC Toronto while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu.
