The Northern Super League club has recently signed two defenders to strengthen their squad. Chantelle Swaby, previously with Leicester City in the Women’s Super League, and Kaela Hansen, who played for NSL side AFC Toronto, have joined the Rise.

Head coach Anja Heiner-Moller expressed satisfaction with the addition of both players, highlighting their unique strengths. Swaby, aged 28, brings a wealth of experience from playing in various leagues around the world. She is known for her composure and vocal leadership on the field. On the other hand, Hansen, 26, is excited to return home to Burnaby, B.C., and play in front of a familiar crowd.

The signings come after the retirement of Mariah Lee, who decided to pursue a career in law, and the loan of goalkeeper Kirstin Tynan to the Tides. Vancouver is currently striving to secure a playoff spot, trailing Halifax by five points in the standings.
