Corus Entertainment has implemented reductions within its television and radio divisions. A spokesperson for the company mentioned that they have enacted a limited number of modifications in specific markets, affecting positions at Global B.C., Global National, News 640, and talk radio. These adjustments are described as challenging yet essential to ensure that the organizational structure of their teams remains sustainable while minimizing any disruptions to local news coverage and audio services.
This recent decision follows a prior round of job cuts by Corus earlier this year, primarily concentrated in Western Canada, as a component of nationwide programming alterations. Corus recently disclosed a net loss of $36.5 million attributable to shareholders in the third quarter, with a 16% decrease in revenue compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, the company is currently seeking approval for its proposed recapitalization strategy, which involves creditors exchanging debt for equity in a newly formed parent company.
